Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley and County Board Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson-Bovell are set to put the spotlight on a small business development initiative in the county with a tour scheduled today. In an effort to foster local economic growth and community enrichment, they will be visiting Tootsie’s Tea, a tea shop undergoing renovations with the assistance of the county’s Building Bridges Program, according to Milwaukee County.

At 2406 W. Clybourn Street in Milwaukee, the site will be buzzing with figures from the realms of business and public service, including Tootsie’s Tea owner LizzTsosie Stachura, who benefitted from the program’s $10,000 grant for facility enhancements. The tea shop, recognized for its Native, Hispanic, and women-led business practices, serves as a testament to how public and private sectors can merge forces to bolster small business ventures.

Open to the public for behind-the-scenes access, the event sets the stage for media interaction, providing an opportunity to document the ongoing construction and engage in one-on-one discussions with the involved parties. Information from the official press advisory indicates street parking is available for those attending the tour, according to Milwaukee County.

The Building Bridges Program stands behind small businesses across Milwaukee County, supplying them with technical support and financial resources crucial for facility improvements that spur economic development and breathe new life into commercial corridors. Crowley’s initiative underscores a commitment to not just create but sustain the pillars of brick-and-mortar businesses within the community fabric.
