Eighty minutes of heart, hustle, and teamwork defined the Orediggers’ performance this weekend as Mines Men’s Rugby defeated the University of Denver 34–21 in a hard-fought High Peaks Conference matchup.

In a game that featured seven total lead changes, both nationally ranked DIII programs went back and forth in an exciting display of determination and physicality. Denver, ranked No. 17 in the NCR Coaches Poll, held a narrow lead at halftime after capitalizing on a few key turnovers. But No. 15 Mines came out of the break composed and relentless—winning crucial breakdown battles, maintaining possession, and finding space out wide to retake control of the match.

Led by a full-team effort, the Orediggers’ second-half surge showcased their resilience and discipline. Strong forward play set the platform, while quick decision-making in the backline turned pressure into points. As the final whistle blew, Mines walked away with a 34–21 victory—one earned through grit, composure, and collective trust.

“Proud of the effort from the whole squad,” the team shared after the match. “We were down at half, but we fought hard and never stopped believing.”

With this win, Mines solidifies its place near the top of the DIII High Peaks Conference standings and continues to build momentum heading into the next stretch of the season.
