We know, we know — when it comes to Miami’s rental market, beggars can’t be choosers. For many, it barely feels like a choice at all.
A new rental listing, however, is testing whatever patience Miamians have left.
Advertised as a $1,100-per-month “Private Sleeping Room for Rent,” the small room inside a Doral townhouse features a twin bed, fresh linens, a desk, Wi-Fi, utilities included…and not much else. According to the listing, it doesn’t come with access to shared areas, such as the kitchen or living room; instead, a private side-door entrance leads straight to the room.
Guests or pets? Not allowed. Cooking? Forget about it.

“Quiet, furnished room available for one occupant seeking a clean, no-frills place to sleep. No access to kitchen, living room, or other household spaces,” the listing reads. “Ideal for a student, night-shift worker, or minimalist who needs crash space only. No cooking, guests, pets, or smoking.”
A single photo of the listing on Realtor.com shows a small room with tile floors, a bed with checkered sheets, and what appear to be a lamp and desk in the corner.
Natural light filters into the all white room through two windows, providing a view of some trees and the residential street outside.
“$1100 for what is tantamount to just a bed,” one person wrote in a Reddit post about the room. “Even as a Miami native, I am flabbergasted.”
While many commenters laughed about the listing’s price, some questioned the legality of the room and whether it was up to code. Others begged the question of whether it even includes a bathroom, as the listing doesn’t clarify whether a toilet is considered part of the “shared spaces.”
“$1100 to shit in a bucket,” one person commented on the post.
“It’s like I’m paying $1100 to be in a prison cell,” another joked.
“I’m glad the heat is included!” a third quipped.
The room appears to be located within Costa Brava, a gated apartment community in Doral, just west of Miami International Airport. It’s unclear whether the community’s homeowners association allows private room rentals.
Either way, if cooking, guests, and, apparently, indoor bathrooms aren’t really your thing, congratulations: the listing says the room is “available today.”
A listing agent for the property didn’t respond to New Times‘ request for comment.
