Minnesota’s small businesses just got a leg up in navigating the competitive terrain of state contracts. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is now calling for responses to its Micro Grant program RFP, aimed at certified small businesses within the state. The program is designed to bolster financial capabilities, helping these businesses up their game in the quest for MnDOT projects and contracts.

For those in the loop, this news arrives with a flourish of opportunity – especially for small business owners looking to expand their operational capacity, or to sharpen their industry acumen. In a bulletin distributed by MnDOT, it was highlighted that responses are being encouraged from those seeking assistance with eligible expenses. The grant aims to equip businesses with the requisite toolkit to better compete and succeed in acquiring MnDOT linked contracts.

The RFP, can be viewed directly on MnDOT’s webpage for those willing to throw their hats in the ring. Furthermore, for any burning question marks hovering above potential applicants’ heads, inquiries are being fielded via email to [email protected]. MnDOT is also maintaining a FAQ section, accessible at their civil rights loan and grant webpage, where curious parties can peruse already answered queries, a resource that will be consistently updated as the grant cycle churns on.

There is, however, a ticking clock element to this opportunity. Applications will go through a scrutiny process based on the order they are received, all within the perimeter set by the RFP guidelines. Business owners have until April 30, 2026, to submit their applications, or at least until the funding coffers have been depleted, a deadline set in stone for precisely 2:00 p.m. Central Standard Time. Remember, punctuality is key, as late submissions will find no quarter.

For more details, MnDOT’s dedicated micro-grant webpage is the go-to resource. There, interested Minnesota-based certified small businesses can find all the information they need to dive into this funding opportunity. As the state pushes forward to not only enhance its infrastructure but also fortify its small business backbone, the Micro Grant program stands as a crucial conduit for realizing both these objectives.
