Former Amazon Web Services Leaders to Drive Streaming Spatial Content Forward

CULVER CITY, Calif., Feb. 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Miris, the company pioneering the era of spatial streaming, today announced that Doug Smith will join Miris as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and Erik Smith will join the company as Senior Vice President of Business Development after serving as category leaders in go-to-market strategies for Amazon Web Services (AWS).

“The addition of Doug and Erik to Miris’ leadership team of technology and entertainment industry veterans strengthens our ability to reach partners and ultimately consumers with our powerful AI-assisted transcoding and adaptive streaming technology which finally enables the streaming of spatial content,” said Marlin Prager, Miris CEO and co-founder. “Their ample experience in go-to-market strategy and focus on interactive content in the cloud make them ideal executives to help drive Miris’ vision and solutions forward.”

Prior to joining Miris as CRO, Doug Smith served as the Worldwide Head of Visual Compute & GameLift GTM at AWS, where he specialized in go-to-market strategies for multiple AWS service launches. Doug has spent over two decades in the media and entertainment industry, growing businesses and partnerships.

“This is the way forward, how we unlock spatial content at scale for the world,” said Doug Smith, Miris CRO. “Miris is the only way to distribute dynamic streaming spatial content at scale, solving data bottlenecks, and providing the critical infrastructure for spatial streaming.”

Erik Smith previously developed the global betting and gaming strategy for AWS, established and led the Amazon Partner Network (APN) Startup Team, and launched the Global Startup Program. Before that, Erik was the Director of Strategic Alliances at Electronic Arts, where he managed the distribution of titles for EA Mobile.

“Miris’ patented device-agnostic technology opens the door for companies to stream high-fidelity spatial content that will propel innovation in everything from entertainment to medicine, and education to travel and exploration. Hardware and software developers can now deliver on the potential of spatial streaming experiences, removing the limits of old technology,” said Erik Smith, Miris SVP of Business Development.

Miris’ executive team members have contributed to numerous films and video games, and have previously launched groundbreaking products at major technology companies. Miris’ broader product development team includes deep technical experience in computer graphics, AR/VR/MR, and AI that uniquely positions them to lead the delivery of dynamic spatial content.
