Former MLB All-Star Matt Holliday is making it a little easier to own his Oklahoma dream home—cutting the price by more than $3 million while putting far less land on the market. Holliday’s sprawling Stillwater estate is now listed for $8.95 million, down from its original $12 million asking price in February. The latest price cut also shrank the offering from the full 136 acres to 20 acres, although the remaining acreage can be purchased separately, according to listing agent Wyatt Poindexter of The Agency.
And for Texas buyers looking for an extravagant escape without venturing too far from home, the property is roughly 130 to 150 miles from the Texas border, depending on the route.
The property once held the title of the most expensive single-family home for sale in Oklahoma.
And while the price and acreage have changed, the home’s biggest bragging right remains: a professionally lit baseball field in the backyard.
The 7,500-square-foot home was built in 2022 and sits behind the gates of the estate. It has five bedrooms, two home offices and even a powder room covered in Gucci wallpaper.
Poindexter called the property a rare combination of luxury and sports amenities, with features designed for “performance as much as prestige.”
But for Holliday, the baseball setup was more than a flashy amenity.
The former St. Louis Cardinals outfielder used the field for fun and to give his sons a place to practice, according to Poindexter. His oldest son, Jackson, now plays for the Baltimore Orioles, while his second-oldest son, Ethan, was selected fourth overall by the Colorado Rockies in last year’s MLB draft.
The field features professional turf and lighting, bleachers and a fire pit behind home plate. The property also has batting cages, giving the next owner plenty of options for an at-home baseball workout.
And baseball is hardly the only sport covered here.
The estate has a putting green, gym, running trails and an indoor pickleball and basketball court housed in the same building as the batting cages. There’s also a two-level pool with a waterfall, hot tub, outdoor kitchen, guest house and workshop.
Holliday, who grew up in Stillwater, bought the property for $3 million in 2018—the same year he retired from Major League Baseball, according to PropertyShark records.
Earlier this year, Holliday said one of his favorite things about the home was having a place where he could bring people together.
“Some of our favorite memories here revolve around hosting college students and professional athletes for meals, conversation and meaningful fellowship,” he told Mansion Global.
Holliday could not be reached for additional comment.
The latest price cut means the property is no longer Oklahoma’s most expensive home on the market. That distinction now belongs to a contemporary mansion in Oklahoma City listed for $9.6 million, excluding large ranch properties with eight-figure asking prices.
