It appears Bo Bichette’s market is heating up.

The free agent infielder has been linked to a number of this teams this offseason, including the Boston Red Sox, but the Philadelphia Phillies have also had their eyes on him, and the two sides met Monday via video call.

According to The New York Post’s Jon Heyman, that meeting went “very well.”

“Bichette admires “first class” organization,“ Heyman wrote on X. ”Other pluses: roster, park, (Don) Mattingly’s link, spring proximity to home.”

The Phillies hire Mattingly as their bench coach in January. He served in the same role for the Toronto Blue Jays from 2023-25 while Bichette was part of the team.

Bichette also lives in Florida during the offseason, which would put him close to Philadelphia’s spring training facility in Clearwater.

Other teams connected to Bichette are the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees.

Bichette would fill a need for Boston given he’s a right-handed hitter, but he’s never hit more than 30 home runs in a season. However, Bichette’s ability to put the ball in the air would make him a good fit at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox remain the only team to not sign a free agent to a major league contract this offseason. They’ve been busy on the trade market, but now with the loss of Alex Bregman, who signed a five-year deal with the Chicago Cubs, it will be interesting to see how they fill that void.
