Trinidad and Tobago delivered a historic performance at the 2025 GAMMA World Championships, held in São Paulo, Brazil, earning a total of 14 medals across various age divisions.

The event, hosted by the Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA), featured competitors from over 60 countries, with T&T finishing 12th overall, its best performance to date at the global level.

The national team, made up of 14 athletes representing the Mixed Martial Arts Association of Trinidad and Tobago (MMAATT), competed in both MMA and Striking MMA formats. The squad returned home with two world titles, seven silver medals, and five bronze medals.

Among the standout performances was Renee Fortune, who captured gold in the Under-16 Girls 62+ kg MMA category, becoming a world champion in her debut international outing.

In the men’s Under-21 division, Alex Aleem Khan claimed T&T’s second gold, winning the 83.9 kg Striking MMA title. Khan also earned silver in the regular MMA format, underscoring his versatility and dominance.

Silver medals were also claimed by rising talents such as Elijah Cudjoe (U10 -38kg), Johnmark Baboolal (U10 -30kg), Denahi Gustav, who medalled in both the U12-42kg and -46kg divisions, and Sonia Baboolal (U16 -50kg).

Joshua Cooper, competing in the U21 -83.9kg Striking MMA division, also secured silver and added a bronze in the MMA format.
