KSW Middleweight Fight: Pawel Pawlak vs Mamed Khalidov
Card Start Time: Saturday (4/18), 1:00pm EST (Internet PPV)
Saturday sees the return of a legend in Polish MMA. Mamed Khalidov returns to the cage for the first time in a year and a half. The 48-fight veteran is not just coming back for a showcase fight either. He faces KSW middleweight champion, Pawel Pawlak, as he searches for his fourth defense of the belt.
In this one, I love Khaidov to return to his former glory. The main reason is that no matter how long he’s been away, he always returns dangerous in all situations. He took a year off leading into his fight with KSW heavyweight and World’s Strongest Man legend, Mariusz Pudzianowski. After being out of the cage for 12 months, he knocked out the much bigger fighter in under two minutes.
It’s not just that he always comes back with a boom, but I also love the stylistic matchup. Pawlak is a guy who enjoys being a bully in many situations. However, Khalidov has regularly thrown around people one or two weight classes up from him. I expect Khalidov to not only be the more dangerous fighter in this one, but the more physical as well.
