SALT LAKE CITY — A new version of the classic board game Monopoly is coming to Salt Lake City.
Mr. Monopoly himself joined officials with Top Trumps USA, which is a global licensee for Hasbro, at a news conference this week at Pioneer Park to announce the new game, which is set to be released in summer 2026.
Salt Lake a ‘natural fit’ for new Monopoly board
“Salt Lake City seemed like a natural fit,” said Aaron Green, sales representative for Top Trumps USA. “The beauty, the mountains — the board’s going to be gorgeous. It lends itself really well to making a beautiful game.”

This will be the second Utah-themed version of the classic game. A Park City-themed board has already been released.
For the Salt Lake version, the rules will stay the same, but Green said nearly every square on the game will feature areas and businesses unique to Utah’s capital city.
“Maybe you land on Crown Burger. Maybe you land on the Jazz. Maybe you land on the new NHL team (the Mammoth). Maybe you land on the Capitol building,” Green said. “And so you’ll have some memory of those places.”

As Mr. Monopoly waved at passing vehicles on the corner of 300 South and 300 West on Wednesday afternoon, Sara Mathewson told KSL TV she’d like to see that area – known as Broadway – on the board.
“I think Broadway is pretty important considering everything that is along Broadway. I think Rio Grande would be important,” Mathewson said, adding that other places like the Delta Center, Temple Square, and the University of Utah, are also important.
Mathewson admitted she doesn’t usually enjoy playing Monopoly, but a Salt Lake-themed version is intriguing.
“I think I’d be willing to play the Salt Lake version, for sure,” she said.
