San Antonio currently has multiple nightlife districts spread across downtown and surrounding areas, from the St. Mary’s Strip to North Alamo Street to Southtown. On Grayson Street, a number of new food and drink concepts have emerged, including the newest addition, appropriately named Moonshine Off Grayson.

The new bar concept is around the corner from other newly minted businesses, such as Stout House Grayson and Milk Pizza Shop, and within walking distance of the Pearl complex. Moonshine Off Grayson specializes in its namesake spirit, whiskey, cocktails, and other boozy beverages, along with bar bites fueled by pop-ups, like Pete’s Hot Chicken.

Moonshine Off Grayson comes from the same people who launched El Cevichero in San Antonio, including Abel Mota Jr., who started the marisquería as a ceviche delivery service during the pandemic. Social media posts portray the business as something akin to a honky-tonk, featuring live music, karaoke and even a bit of line dancing, all served up with a country twang.

A schedule posted to the bar’s Instagram earlier this month listed soft–opening hours as 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday through Friday, noon to 2 a.m. on Saturdays, and noon to midnight on Sundays. The post also said that karaoke runs from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Wednesdays, every Thursday is Honky-Tonk Thursday, and live musicians and DJs will provide tunes Friday through Sunday.

MySA reached out to Moonshine Off Grayson for additional comment, and we will update this story if we hear back from the business.

Find it: 125 W. Grayson St., Suite 120, San Antonio, TX 78212
