ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Multiple families were impacted after an apartment building in southwest Atlanta caught fire early Monday afternoon.

The fire happened at the Country Oaks Apartments. Atlanta Fire officials confirm no one was injured, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Families told Atlanta News First they are devastated after losing everything. Kristie Henderson got out of the building with her two sons.

“Just moved here in March, just moved out here,” Henderson said. “Kind of got up on my feet and now back down again, so if anybody can help me that’ll be great.”

According to some residents, they witnessed fire crews struggling to get one of the hydrants to work.

“My concern is, why is the fire hydrant out of water? That’s unacceptable. That thing should have water,” Darius Barron, a resident, said.

As of Monday afternoon, fire officials had not confirmed if there were any issues with hydrants on the scene.

This is a developing story. Check back with Atlanta News First for the latest.
