Hispanic residents had a higher median income than most of their peers nationwide, according to the latest Census figures.
Last year, New Jersey’s Hispanic residents had a median income of $76,104 compared to the nationwide median of $69,467 for Hispanics.
Still, Hispanic residents in 12 other states, including Maryland, Maine and Utah made more than New Jersey residents. But residents in the District of Columbia, Vermont and New Hampshire earned the most.
A note about the data: Figures are in 2023 inflation-adjusted dollars. The Census has several different surveys that compute median household income. We used median income figures from the American Community Survey, which provides a snapshot of how people in the nation live.
