NetworkInVegas.com — Convention Preview

The convenience store and fuel retailing industry takes over the Las Vegas Convention Center from October 6–9, 2026, when the NACS Show returns to town for the first time since 2024. The conference program runs all four days; the expo floor opens Wednesday, October 7 and runs through Friday, October 9.

For Las Vegas, it is one of the more reliable weeks on the fall calendar — and one of the more underrated ones. NACS does not generate the headlines that CES or SEMA do, but it fills the LVCC with buyers who are there to write orders, and it does it in the middle of the week, which is exactly when the city needs the rooms filled.

What NACS actually is

NACS stands for the National Association of Convenience Stores, an Alexandria, Virginia–based trade association. Its annual show is the largest event in the world for convenience retail and fuel retailing, and it rotates between a handful of host cities — Las Vegas, Chicago, Atlanta.

The show floor is organized into five categories: in-store merchandise, technology, facility operations, fuel equipment and services, and foodservice. That mix is the whole story of what a convenience store has become. Roller-grill hot dogs and fountain drinks share the floor with EV charging hardware, back-office software, car wash systems, and payment technology. If you have ever wondered who decides what ends up in the cooler at your local gas station, these are the people.

Who comes

The last Las Vegas edition, in October 2024, drew a record 26,124 attendees from 68 countries. Of those, 8,811 were classified as buyers — a jump of 1,447 over the prior year. The expo floor covered 437,500 net square feet and featured 1,190 exhibitors, including 157 companies in the New Exhibitor Area.

The 2025 show, held in Chicago, drew 25,136 attendees from 73 countries across a 440,000-net-square-foot floor with 1,204 exhibitors. NACS has now set a host-city attendance record three years running: Atlanta in 2023, Las Vegas in 2024, and Chicago in 2025.

The 2026 Las Vegas edition should land in the same range. Advance figures put expected attendance in the low-to-mid 20,000s with roughly 1,200 exhibitors.

Attendees skew toward decision-makers — store owners, chain executives, category buyers, and franchise operators — which is why the buyer count matters more than the headline number. This is a working show.

A few things worth knowing

The Cool New Products Preview Room. Before the floor opens, attendees walk a room of product debuts and scan QR codes with the show app to build a shopping list. In 2025 there were 346 products on display; in 2024 there were 300. It is essentially a speed-dating round for the snack aisle.

Education is retailer-to-retailer. NACS builds its sessions by having retailers teach retailers, and attendance is unusually strong for a trade show. The 48 sessions in 2025 averaged more than 220 people each, and two broke 400.

Ideas 2 Go. A general-session video series profiling operators doing something unusual — in 2025 that included a look at operational practice in Tokyo and a US store with a hidden speakeasy.

Speakers. Lindsay Shookus, the longtime Saturday Night Live producer, is scheduled to speak on Tuesday, October 6, on managing talent and building trust under live-television pressure.

They clean out the floor for charity. When the 2024 show wrapped at the LVCC, exhibitors donated thousands of pounds of food to Three Square, the Southern Nevada food bank. Given how much of this show is edible, that is not a token gesture.

What it means for the local economy

NACS does not publish a Las Vegas–specific economic impact figure, so treat what follows as an estimate rather than a reported number.

The LVCVA’s most recent visitor research puts average spending by a Las Vegas convention attendee at $1,795 per trip in 2025, against $1,230 for a leisure visitor. Applied against an attendance figure in the 25,000–26,000 range, that works out to roughly $45–47 million in direct visitor spending across the four days — hotel rooms, restaurants, rideshares, shows, and gaming.

That figure understates the real number, because it counts only what visitors spend out of pocket. It does not capture what exhibiting companies spend on booth builds, freight, labor, sponsored dinners, and private events, which for a show with 1,200 exhibitors and more than 400,000 square feet of floor is substantial on its own.

The wider context: Las Vegas hosted roughly six million convention attendees in 2025, and the LVCVA has projected 2026 as a banner year for the Convention Center specifically — 48 conventions and about 1.23 million attendees, helped along by the completion of the $600 million renovation that brought the million-square-foot Central Hall back online in December 2025.

If you’re going

Registration is open through nacsshow.com, and NACS is running an official housing block with discounted rates at more than 30 hotels. Book through the official agency rather than a third-party broker — NACS’s own FAQ warns about brokers that demand prepayment and then oversell rooms, a recurring problem during major Vegas shows.

Expect elevated rates across the resort corridor that week, and expect the LVCC surface lots and garage to fill early.
