WORCESTER, Mass. – The Boston Celtics took a commanding lead Wednesday night in the NBA Finals, and now need just one more win against the Dallas Mavericks to be crowned NBA champions.

Adding to the Finals excitement locally, a commercial featuring the winning team which will run across the nation was filmed in Worcester.

No matter who wins the title this year, the city of Worcester’s skyline will be featured in a new ad for the NBA champions.

Worcester’s Business Development Manager Edgar Luna said the entire project came together in a matter of days.

He received a call from a film crew in Los Angeles on Thursday of last week and by the end of the day Friday, a plan was set.

Luna said the commercial is for an apparel company.

Crews were looking for an”urban billboard” and the one sitting downtown at 20 Front Street checked the box.

Crews filmed early Tuesday morning from about midnight to 4 a.m.

They of course shot the commercial with both outcomes of the finals, but as a Celtics fan himself, Luna said he’s hoping the ad is Boston-themed.

“This was a last-minute request and we were able to fulfill that within 24 hours,” Luna said. “Typically, this will take about a week or even two weeks, but we were able to do that with one day thanks to the Worcester Police Department, to the Worcester Fire Department and Inspectional Services. The commercial will air immediately following the end of the NBA championship, and it will show either the name of the Mavericks and or the Celtics. Of course, we are hoping that it will be the Celtics.”

The apparel company was weighing other locations in the state and around the country for the shoot, but Luna says they ultimately chose Worcester partly because of how quickly the city was able to set things up.

Luna says as far as other productions possibly coming to Worcester, there’s currently three movie requests.
