DENVER, Colo. – North Dakota State soccer saw their five-game unbeaten run in league play come to an end on Sunday, as the Bison fell at Denver 2-1 in Summit League play.
Olivia Watson gave the Bison (7-5-3, 3-1-1 Summit League) the lead in the 33rd minute off of a corner kick. Tyreese Zacher sent a corner kick to the far post, where it was headed down by Gabrielle Garrett toward the goal. Watson was then able to get her right foot on the ball and knock it in from close range for her fourth goal of the season.
However, Denver (9-5-1, 3-1-1 Summit League) would trail for only 73 seconds, as the Pioneers also capitalized on a corner kick and Ella Frost fired a shot through traffic to tie the game in the 34th minute.
With less than 10 minutes to go, Denver would be awarded a penalty after a video review. Frost would step up and convert with a shot to the left into the side netting, giving the Pioneers the lead.
Payton Mulberry finished with three saves in the game for NDSU.
With the result. The Bison end the weekend in a four-way tie with South Dakota State, Denver and Omaha for first place in the Summit League standings, with all four teams sitting on 10 points.
The Bison will return home and begin a three-game home stand to wrap the regular season on Thursday, welcoming in South Dakota State. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Dacotah Field.
