The Marquette and Wisconsin volleyball teams had a two-year run, but they have been erased from the NCAA record books.
Top-ranked Nebraska and No. 18 Creighton drew a record crowd of 17,675 fans to their match on Sept. 16 at CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska. The Cornhuskers won in a five-set thriller.
The attendance total eclipsed the NCAA mark for a regular-season indoor match of 17,037 set by MU and UW at Fiserv Forum in 2023.
The Golden Eagles and Badgers are set to play at Fiserv Forum again Wednesday, Sept. 17, but with tickets still available, they will likely not top the record again.
UW coach Kelly Sheffield did not seem upset about losing the record, posting on social media: “Awesome! Let’s keep growing the game!!”
