Nebraska Gears Up for NCAA Championships – University of Nebraska

Huskers Travel to NCAA Championships 
No. 4 Nebraska is set to compete at the NCAA Championships in Champaign, Ill., on April 17-18. The Huskers are in the first session on Friday at 1 p.m., which is the qualifying round. They will compete against No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 5 Ohio State, No. 8 Cal, No. 9 Greenville and No. 12 Springfield. The top three teams from both sessions will then move on to the final session of the Championship on Saturday at 6 p.m. The qualifying rounds will be broadcast on ESPN+, and the finals will be broadcast on ESPN2. 

Last Time Out
Nebraska placed second at the 2026 Big Ten Championships team final. Michigan won with a 323.500, Nebraska finished second with a 320.700, Illinois placed third with a 316.700, Ohio State followed with a 314.800 and Penn State finished fifth with a 310.850. Max Odden placed second in the all-around competition with a career-high score of 78.000. NU also had two individual event Big Ten Champions. Asher Cohen won the rings, and Nathan York won the parallel bars. Luke James won bronze on both floor and vault. Caden Clinton won the silver medal on parallel bars. 

Quick Notes  
– At the 2025 NCAA Championships, the Huskers had a sixth-place finish. They also had five gymnasts who earned All-America honors. 
– Last year at the 2025 Big Ten Championships, Nebraska came in third behind Michigan and Penn State. NU’s second-place finish is tied for the program’s highest placement at a Big Ten Championships. 
– Wyatt Reynolds and Sam Rakita both made the 2026 Big Ten men’s gymnastics All-Freshman Team after their performances at Big Ten Championships. Reynolds placed sixth on pommel horse and Rakita finished fourth on rings. 
– As a team, Nebraska is ranked fifth on floor, fifth on pommel horse, sixth on rings, first on vault, third on parallel bars and fourth on high bar. 
– Senior Asher Cohen earned a spot as a Nissen-Emery finalist. This is one of the most prestigious awards in all of college gymnastics. The award is given out at the NCAA Championships, which will be held at Illinois. 
– Asher Cohen is ranked first on rings, Luke James is ranked fifth on vault, Nathan York is ranked second on parallel bars and Max Odden is ranked third on high bar.
