Growth isn’t over on San Antonio’s Far West Side. A popular restaurant chain is investing big bucks in a new location there.
Florida-headquartered Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen plans to open at 11256 Alamo Ranch Parkway, near the Casa Blanca commercial corridor. According to a filing submitted to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), it’s expected to occupy roughly 6,181 square feet.
Known for its southern-inspired comfort food, Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen has come a long way since its 1979 founding. The first eatery opened in Arlington after a fifth-grade class named it, according to the company’s website. Today, more than 180 restaurants operate across 27 states. Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen has five locations in San Antonio.
Online records show that construction on the Alamo Ranch restaurant will kick off in February 2027. Project leaders are investing $2.8 million to build it from the ground up.
Google Maps shows there were multiple pad sites available near the Casa Blanca movie theater in 2025. Residents can look forward to more cuisine options before catching a potential film. Several tenants, including DICK’S Sporting Goods and Michaels, already make up the Alamo Ranch shopping center across the street. Currently, food is limited to Olive Garden, Chick-fil-A, Jason’s Deli, Ginza Ramen Poke and Boba, and Chipotle.
According to the TDLR report, crews should finish up work on Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen in late August 2027. MySA reached out to the company for more details on the grand opening date.
