New York Giants predicted to sign David Njoku in free agency

The New York Giants are entering their first offseason under new head coach John Harbaugh, and Giants fans are preparing for the unexpected.

This time around, there will be no cameras filming the goings-on in East Rutherford, and it’s clear that Harbaugh will be putting his thumb on the scale when it comes to forming the 2026 roster.

Free agency is just six weeks away, and the Giants have many decisions to make about their own impending free agents, such as wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson, offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, safety Dane Belton, and cornerback Cor’Dale Flott.

The Giants have essentially no cap space to operate with at the moment (Over The Cap has them at -$58k), but there are several moves they are expected to make to clear space over the next few weeks.

So, once free agency gets here, who might the Giants target in the marketplace? Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports recently predicted the possible destination of the top 50 free agents, and the Giants popped up on a few of them.

  1. WR Wan’Dale Robinson: GiantsIt wouldn’t be much of a stretch to see new coach John Harbaugh seeing Robinson in a similar role to Zay Flowers. Robinson had never had more than 699 receiving yards in a season before last year’s 1,014-yard campaign, and he and Jaxson Dart showed strong chemistry. Other suitors: Falcons, Dolphins, Jets
  1. TE David Njoku: GiantsThe Giants need playmakers of all kinds for Dart, and Njoku is a physical tight end whom John Harbaugh knows well from their shared time in the AFC North. Other suitors: Browns, Dolphins, Eagles

Other possibilities for the Giants, as predicted by Pereles, are as follows:

  1. C Tyler Linderbaum: ChargersWith three Pro Bowls in four years, Linderbaum is the clear-cut top interior lineman in this free agency class. Though he has expressed a desire to return to the Ravens, the Chargers have the second-most effective cap space in the NFL and could hypothetically beat out any other offer. Will that be enough? Other suitors: Ravens, Giants
  1. G David Edwards: BillsThe Bills don’t have much cap room, but keeping their outstanding offensive line should be top of mind for newly promoted Brandon Beane. Other suitors: Browns, Lions, Giants
  1. WR Rashid Shaheed: SeahawksSeattle traded multiple picks at the trade deadline to acquire Shaheed, and while he hasn’t had as big a role as expected on offense, he has been terrific as a returner with three return touchdowns (including playoffs). Other suitors: Rams, Giants, Vikings

Linderbaum makes the most sense and will almost certainly reunite with Harbaugh if not re-signed by the Ravens ahead of free agency.
