Here’s what people were saying on social media:

Talkin’ Yanks: “Yankees leadoff Goldschmidt and drop Grisham to the nine hole as they begin a four-game set vs. the Orioles”

Gary Phillips: “Paul Goldschmidt leads off tonight with Ben Rice at DH.”

Gary Sheffield Jr.: “Haven’t seen what Paul Goldschmidt has done to warrant the promotion today but as is tradition these are un-winnable debates If a player struggles for a month we move conversation to expected stats and if those aren’t good we move on to career splits”

@JMozloom: “Goldschmidt leading has never made sense.”

@ERCsGlueFactory: “Surely using your 40 year old platoon 1B as a leadoff hitter won’t yield worse results than Grisham leadoff”
