NFL news, injury updates coming out of Week 7: Jayden Daniels ruled out with hamstring injury, but two top Commanders practice in full

Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson has requested a trade, per ESPN. Wilson has spent his entire six-year career in Cincinnati, and was announced a team captain ahead of this season.

Wilson’s role has been reduced this season, despite starting in all seven games so far this year. Rookie linebackers Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight Jr. have taken the majority of the Bengals’ defensive snaps, leaving Wilson on the sideline more than the veteran would like.

So far this year, Wilson has 16 solo tackles across seven games. Last year, he had 55 solo tackles across 11 games.

Bucs QB Baker Mayfield, who was limited on Wednesday with a knee injury, is back to full participation on Thursday, per the team’s injury report. Backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has now missed Wednesday and Thursday’s practices, the team citing an issue with his teeth.

Young suffered a high ankle sprain in Sunday’s win over the Jets. His status for Week 8 against the Bills remains up in the air, but it is looking like Andy Dalton will get the start with Young missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown missed his second consecutive practice on Thursday with a hamstring injury.

Tennessee Titans cornerback L’Jarius Sneed has been placed on injured reserve with a quad injury and will now be out at least four games.

The Washington Commanders got good news on Thursday with the return of wideouts Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel to practice. Samuel missed last week’s game with a bruised heel, and McLaurin has missed four games with a quad injury.

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs is still in concussion protocol stemming from Sunday’s game against Washington.

Chiefs head coach Andy says the team is in communication with tackle Josh Simmons and that he is good and taking care of his family. Simmons has been away from the team for personal reasons.

Minnesota Vikings RB Aaron Jones is expected to be activated for the team’s Week 8 Thursday night matchup with the LA Chargers. Jones has been out due to a hamstring injury.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was back in practice for a second consecutive day with his teammates on Thursday. Jackson has been out with a hamstring injury since the Ravens’ Week 4 loss to the Chiefs.

The Ravens are 1-5 this season and have not won since Jackson went down.

The New York Giants signed former Atlanta Falcons veteran wideout Ray-Ray McCloud to the practice squad on Thursday.

New York also re-signed kickerJude McAtamney to the practice squad after waiving him on Tuesday.

San Francisco 49ers general manager spoke with the media on Thursday and says the team is optimistic about wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk playing in 2025. He’s been out rehabbing a torn ACL and MCL since October of last season.

“Oh, yeah, there’s hope he plays,” Lynch said. “There’s, more importantly than hope, there’s some evidence. He’s making really good progress. He’s been putting in the time, and I think that it’s coming nearer as to when he’s going to be out there.”

In the summer of 2024, Aiyuk signed a four-year $120 million contract extension with San Francisco. In seven games last season before the season ending injuries, Aiyuk caught 25 receptions for 374 yards and a 15 yard per reception average.

Los Angeles Chargers tackle Joe Alt told reporters he plans to play on Thursday Night Football against the Minnesota Vikings. Despite not participating in a full practice this week, on the heels of an ankle injury that has kept him sidelined for nearly a month. Alt remains listed as questionable.

Tackle Trey Pipkins is also questionable, which means he could play for the Chargers on Thursday night after dealing with a knee injury.

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday as he’s still dealing with a chest injury. Diggs hasn’t missed any time and has started seven of New England’s games this season.

Through the first seven games, Diggs has 39 receptions for 456 yards.

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson says he plans on making his season debut in Week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“My goal and my plan is to play this week.”

Watson has been rehabbing after suffering a torn ACL in Week 18 of last season. His 21-day return window is set to expire on Monday, Oct. 27, the day after Green Bay’s Sunday Night Football game against Pittsburgh.

Atlanta Falcons linebacker Divine Deablo will miss time on the field due to a fracture in his forearm. Head coach Raheem Morris says Deablo will be week-to-week.

The Los Angeles Chargers are officially listing OT Joe Alt as questionable for Week 8’s “Thursday Night Football” matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. He was listed as “limited” in each of the team’s practices (including a walkthrough on Wednesday) this week after missing the past three games with an ankle injury. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport

Alt moved from right to left tackle after a season-ending injury to Rashawn Slater, but it hasn’t fazed Alt, who’s given up just three total pressures on 133 pass-blocking opportunities per PFF, earning himself the fourth-highest pass-blocking grade among offensive tackles this season.

If available, his presence could be just what the team needs to bounce back after dropping three of its last four games, with its only win coming against the 1-6 Miami Dolphins in that span.

Quarterback Justin Herbert is averaging 6.6 yards per attempt, a 7-5 TD-INT ratio and 88.0 passer rating without Alt on the field compared to 7.7 yards per attempt, a 6-1 TD-INT ratio and 103.7 passer rating with him on it so far in 2025, per NFL Next Gen Stats.

The team is also listing safety Elijah Molden (thumb), right tackle Trey Pipkins III (knee), and linebacker Troy Dye (thumb) as questionable. The Chargers have already ruled out running back Hassan Haskins with a hamstring injury.
