Looking at the Broncos’ needs heading into the deadline, the most glaring one is running back. Now, the emergence of rookie running back Jonah Coleman helps, but the Broncos still need more from the position. RJ Harvey and Tyler Badie are on the injured reserve, and veteran JK Dobbins has been struggling all season. So, adding another back to pair with Coleman would make sense.
The question is, will they go big and add a Jonathan Taylor or Breece Hall? Or make a smaller move for someone like Tony Pollard or someone else?
Klis mentions wide receiver, and while it may not be the most pressing need right now, it could be in a few months. Jaylen Waddle has not performed as expected thus far; Courtland Sutton will be 32 next season and has a large cap hit(Also restructured his deal and could be off the team next season); Pat Bryant has been very good, but has been on the IR; Marvin Mims is a pending free agent, while Troy Franklin is buried on the depth chart. Could the Broncos be looking to add a wide receiver who could contribute to this team this season and moving forward? This doesn’t seem as likely, but I wouldn’t rule it out if the right deal comes their way.
As for tight end, I don’t know. The only name that could move the needle and that might be available is Dallas Goedert, but is that even worth it? He would certainly improve that room, but the Broncos really do not utilize their tight ends in the passing game. Evan Engram has had a disappointing year, and blocking specialist Nate Adkins leads the group (and, funny enough, the team) in TD receptions with 3, but he only has 6 total catches thus far.
We’ll be tracking all the Broncos news and rumors throughout the weekend and right up to the deadline. It’s supposed to be an active deadline, so we’ll see if our Denver Broncos make any splashes or not in the coming days.
