Paul Maurice could break Scotty Bowman’s record for most NHL games coached in about one-and-a-half seasons if he helps the Florida Panthers bounce back from a rough season.

Wanna wrap up today with, of course, The Hockey News has been doing annual coach rankings for head coaches in the NHL, and, they’re finishing up those annual rankings this week with the top three being revealed.

So in order, number three, Paul Maurice from the Florida Panthers, number two, Rod Brind’Amour of the Carolina Hurricanes, and number one, Jon Cooper of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Strong top three there.
Any changes you would make?
I think you got the right top three, the right three coaches.
I don’t know how you give number one to the guy who lost in the first round in an upset to Montreal, lost the Olympic gold medal to Team USA, which I think a lot of people consider an upset, and hasn’t, hasn’t made it out of the first round or, you know, ha- has had trouble advancing in the playoffs since the team won consecutive Stanley Cups.

I’m not saying Jon Cooper’s not a great coach.
He did a great job last year with a very injured Tampa Bay team, but how can you not give number one to the guy who won the Stanley Cup?
Number three, Maurice, you know, they had a bad year, but it was injuries, but he won the previous two Stanley Cups.
So in my, my, on my list, it would have been Brind’Amour one, Maurice two, and Cooper three.
