The NLPA’s full membership and the NHL Board of Governors ratified a four-year CBA today, more than a year before the expiration of the current contract. The new agreement runs through the 2029-30 season (NHL).
The CBA will include:
- An 84-game regular season, along with a shortened preseason
- Permanent emergency backup goaltenders
- Changes to long-term injured reserve rules
- Elimination of game-day player dress codes
- Standardization of draft rights expiring when a player is 22
- Increasing minimum NHL salaries
- Elimination of deferred payments in contracts
- Extension of the NHL’s Olympics commitment through 2030 (ESPN.com, 7/8).
