As the Saratoga Racing season gallops closer, the New York Racing Association has announced major purse increases for both the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival and the summer meet.
The NYRA has increased purses for open maiden special weights by a full 15%.
These are races for top horses that have never won a race.
For first time starter horses that have never one a race, NYRA has raised their purses by more than 12%.
There are also purse increases for races run only by New York-bred horses.
The Belmont Stakes racing festival begins June 3 with the Saratoga summer meet galloping into high gear July 3.
