MIAMI, FL, USA, October 7th, 2026, FinanceWire
Octobank today announced its exhibition at the Sibos Miami 2026 financial industry forum. As international trade and the digital economy expand, Uzbekistan is building closer ties with the global banking system. Attending one of the world’s largest financial forums for the third consecutive year, Octobank is utilizing its independent 48-square-meter exhibition space to engage with foreign financial institutions, payment companies, and technology partners regarding correspondent banking, cross-border payments, and global financial infrastructure.
“Uzbekistan is becoming an increasingly visible part of international trade, and banking infrastructure must match this level of integration. For Octobank, it is important not simply to be present on the global financial agenda, but to build concrete connections with international banks and payment companies that help businesses operate faster, more reliably and more efficiently in foreign markets,” said Hamid Jumaev, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Octobank.
Octobank’s agenda at Sibos focuses on the operational areas that underpin international banking cooperation. In Miami, the bank’s stand combines an exhibition space and a dedicated meeting area for talks with global partners. The core of the bank’s participation is the business dialogue taking shape around clearing mechanisms, foreign exchange operations, liquidity management, and financial services for companies active in international markets. The bank also seeks to develop new payment routes and broaden operational cooperation with foreign financial institutions.
This expansion mirrors deeper shifts under way in Uzbekistan’s economy. Central Asia is turning into an increasingly mature and technology-driven financial market. With international trade, e-commerce, and cross-border business activity on the rise, local companies need wider access to international settlements, a range of currencies, global payment systems, and banking partners able to handle operations in several jurisdictions simultaneously. The market is moving beyond its historical perception as a remittance center to focus on direct interbank relationships and faster cross-border settlements. For international banks, Uzbekistan represents an active market located strategically between the economic hubs of Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
Octobank’s international strategy rests on a growing domestic business. According to internal corporate data as of September 2026, Octobank manages assets of approximately USD 1.66 billion and maintains a client base exceeding 4.9 million individuals. The institution currently holds relationships with 19 correspondent banks and cooperates with more than 30 financial institutions globally. A primary international priority for the bank is the further development of correspondent and settlement infrastructure in major global currencies, notably US dollars, euros, and Chinese yuan. For a bank that serves millions of clients and a growing corporate segment, a stronger network of international financial connections has a direct impact on payment speed, transaction costs, access to currencies, and the ability of Uzbek companies to do business in foreign markets.
Octobank built its participation in Sibos around the concept of a modern digital finance route. To link the international banking agenda with the wider story of modern Uzbekistan, national elements were incorporated into the stand’s design, and visitors were offered traditional Uzbek sweets. While historical trade corridors relied on physical logistics hubs, modern trade relies on the ability to transfer capital efficiently. This requires settlement infrastructure, compliance systems, international payment networks, and direct relationships between financial institutions across borders.
Many members of the global banking community have yet to gain direct experience working with Uzbekistan. Octobank’s objective is to ensure that the dialogues established in Miami transition into practical, long-term relationships spanning payment infrastructure, fintech cooperation, and liquidity management, confirming that institutions from Uzbekistan are assuming a more direct role in global financial infrastructure.
