PHOENIX — A restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale is preparing to debut a unique customer experience and unveil a baseball museum later this month.

The Old Town Baseball Experience will be located inside Frasher’s Tavern, off of Drinkwater Boulevard and Indian School Road, and operated by the nonprofit Arizona Baseball Legacy and Experience (ABLE).

The museum will focus on Arizona baseball while highlighting Scottsdale’s diverse baseball heritage.

“Baseball is a unique part of Arizona and Scottsdale and the Old Town Baseball Experience celebrates that relationship,” Mike Phillips, board president of ABLE, said in a press release. “It will be a place to enjoy the sport with others, learn about the sport and honor the sport.”

The Old Town Baseball Experience will feature displays on the early history of Arizona baseball, including the “Outlaw” leagues, the origins of spring training, the modern Cactus League and Scottsdale’s tradition of high school baseball.

The owner of Frasher’s Tavern, George Frasher, has a large collection of baseball memorabilia that is being expanded for visitors through his partnership with ABLE.

“Frasher’s is honored to carry on the baseball traditions of Old Town Scottsdale and such great places of the past like the Pink Pony and Don and Charlies,” Frasher said. “We are excited about teaming up with ABLE and making Frasher’s a gathering place for the baseball community and fans of our national pastime.”

In addition, baseball presentations and group gatherings will be hosted at the museum throughout the year. The museum will also have a bookstore with works focused on America’s pastime.

The opening date of the museum and hours of operation have not yet been announced.

Admission into the Old Town Baseball Experience will be free.
