The Miami Dolphins’ 2027 NFL Draft plans are going to be a popular talking point over the next eight months. One of the draft’s biggest pundits just scorned a trend for Miami.

The Miami Dolphins’ 2026 season is just getting started. Miami has 16 games left to play this season. Each one serves as a major evaluation opportunity for the future direction of the roster.
With so much up in the air, there’s plenty of opinions on where Miami should go. Given general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan’s stated goal to build through the draft? Many eyes are already settling on next year’s top pick. It can push the team in a number of directions. And as this season unfolds, we’re likely to see multiple consensus opinions emerge. It’s already started. Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is becoming a popular fit in mock drafts with Miami this month.
But not everyone is on board.
NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay is still riding the ‘March For Arch’ train for the Miami Dolphins
“An absolute HAUL will be offered for this pick (the Jets are the leading trade candidate with three first-rounders), but if the Dolphins are picking no. 1, it means Malik Willis is not their guy. Manning brings NFL size, plenty of arm talent, and legitimate speed and play-extension mobility.
His toughness and competitive edge stand out, and his running ability gives him a way to take over games even when the passing rhythm isn’t there. The passing mechanics (and thus the ball placement) still come and go, and he needs to kick the habit of locking on to primary reads too long. But if he puts the entire operation together consistently, he has the tools to be an elite NFL QB.”
The Ringer’s Todd McShay is still riding the ‘March for Arch’ train for the Miami Dolphins as of his Friday mock draft. McShay’s pairing of Manning and Miami comes with the projected No. 1 overall pick. Should Miami ultimately fall into the top choice, one would be hard to fault them for drafting the best quarterback on the board.
Arch Manning’s Texas Longhorns are fresh off of a surreal comeback last weekend against Ohio State and are considered very much in contention for the National Championship in 2026. The Manning name is considered football royalty — and those factors combine for a fanatical following and super high expectations. But as a second-year starter, Manning still has plenty of room to grow. And this quarterback class has several potential contenders to rise through the ranks to challenge both Manning and Oregon’s Dante Moore.
Willis will have a say
Amid all this rookie quarterback talk, the Dolphins are currently still breaking in a different “new” quarterback in Malik Willis. Willis’ play in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders was filled with bright flashes and some avoidable errors. He will get a chance to slam the door shut on the speculation — and he’ll have 16 more Sundays to achieve that feat. But for now, there’s enough left to speculation for some to continue to project Manning to Miami. That includes McShay.
