Patchy Mix, a formidable force in the bantamweight division, has officially transitioned from Bellator MMA to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). With an impressive record of 20-1, including 16 finishes and 13 submission victories, Mix is set to make his UFC debut against Mario Bautista at UFC 316 on June 7, 2025, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Mix’s tenure in Bellator was marked by significant accomplishments. He clinched the Bellator Bantamweight World Championship and emerged victorious in the 2023 Bellator Bantamweight World Grand Prix Tournament. Notably, he secured a first-round knockout against Raufeon Stots to win the Grand Prix and later unified the title by submitting Sergio Pettis in the second round at Bellator 301.
Following the acquisition of Bellator by the Professional Fighters League (PFL), Mix experienced a period of inactivity, leading to a mutual agreement to part ways with PFL. Expressing a desire for greater visibility and competition, Mix stated, “I have money. I have belts. I have all this stuff. But I don’t have notoriety, and that’s what I’m coming for, June 7. I’m coming to show the world who I am.”
Stepping in on short notice to replace the injured Marlon “Chito” Vera, Mix will face the No. 12-ranked Mario Bautista at UFC 316. A victory could position him as a top contender in the UFC’s bantamweight division, potentially setting up a title shot against current champion Merab Dvalishvili, should Dvalishvili retain his title in the upcoming rematch against Sean O’Malley.
Mix’s journey from a challenging upbringing in Angola, New York, to becoming a Bellator champion and now a UFC contender exemplifies his resilience and determination. As he embarks on this new chapter, the MMA community eagerly anticipates his impact in the UFC’s bantamweight division.
