A person connected to last month’s shooting of New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was taken into custody in Buffalo, law enforcement sources said Monday.
The U.S. Marshals Service and New York Police Department were both involved in the apprehension of a “person of interest,” three sources familiar with the matter told NBC News.
Boyd was critically wounded in the early morning hours of Nov. 16 near Seventh Avenue and West 38th Street, officials had previously said.
A few days after being shot in the abdomen, Boyd posted to social media from his hospital bed saying he was “coming along.”
Boyd had logged time with the Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans and Arizona Cardinals before signing with the Jets this season.
But he’s spent this entire campaign on the Injured Reserve (IR) list because of a shoulder injury.
He made a surprise visit to the team’s training facility last week in Florham Park, New Jersey. The 3-10 Jets have already clinched a 10th consecutive losing season.
