The Phoenix Historic Preservation Office is accepting applications for the 2026-27 Exterior Rehabilitation Grant Program, which provides matching funds to help owners of historic homes maintain and preserve their properties.
Phoenix City Council approved $200,000 from the General Fund for exterior rehabilitation grants this fiscal year. Additional funding is available through the voter-approved 2023 General Obligation Bond program, according to a press release.
The program offers 50-50 matching grants of up to $20,000 for approved exterior rehabilitation projects. Eligible work includes roof repairs, masonry restoration, porch improvements and the removal or reversal of alterations that are not consistent with a home’s historic character.3
Applicants must own a home located within a city-designated historic district or a home individually listed on the city’s Historic Property Register.
The Historic Preservation Office will host a virtual workshop from 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026. The workshop will cover program requirements, eligible project types and the process for submitting a complete application.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2026.
