LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — With Cinco de Mayo right around the corner, Plaza Frida got the party started a little early, and for a pretty neighborly reason.
Plaza Frida hosted its “Not Cinco de Mayo” celebration, bringing culture, food and community together ahead of the holiday. Organizers said the event was held early to avoid conflict with local Mexican restaurants during their busiest day of the year, while still putting a spotlight on cultural celebration and family activities.
Along with the festivities, Plaza Frida showcased its local businesses and services. Jamie Taylor, coordinator at Plaza Frida, stressed the space was designed to be welcoming for the community, offering access to both languages and both cultures to help people “really understand each other at a deeper level. So that’s why we celebrate and how we celebrate here at Plaza Frida.”
Services available at Plaza Frida include retail, personal services, healthcare and educational programs.
