ATLANTA – Severe weather is back in the forecast for the metro Atlanta area. FOX 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Laurann Robinson is tracking the latest on this weather system.

Georgia severe weather outlook

What we know:

Multiple tornado warnings were issued throughout metro Atlanta, as well as just across the Georgia state line.

Severe thunderstorm warnings affected the northwestern parts of the Peach State.

You can track the latest updates on watches and warnings here.

The storm system appeared to be moving eastward, with the potential for moderate-sized hail, heavy downpours, and gusty winds.

The storm was so treacherous that it delayed the Braves-Dodgers game at Truist Park. They were able to clear the baseball field and get it dry enough to play ball just after 10 p.m. ET

Why you should care:

Residents were warned to prepare for damaging winds, small hail, and frequent lightning and thunder throughout the evening.

The storms were expected to clear overnight, paving the way for a sunny Sunday with cooler temperatures, reaching highs in the lower 70s.

A stray raindrop could still occur, but the overall conditions were expected to improve.
