4) Jeanty has breakout game with three-TD performance vs. Bears
Ashton Jeanty had struggled through his first three games in the NFL, as the Raiders rookie RB had managed just 144 rushing yards on 47 carries (3.1 average) entering Week 4.
On Sunday, Jeanty piled up 138 rushing yards and 155 scrimmage yards for three touchdowns against the Bears. According to Next Gen Stats, Jeanty had 140 rushing yards coming after contact.
What was different about Week 4? Did he change his stance? Did the Raiders’ offensive line have its best game of the young season? Was it because the rookie back faced the Bears’ defense?
Whatever the case may be, Jeanty had a historic output, scoring three touchdowns (one rushing score, two receiving touchdowns). The first-round pick out of Boise State joined Bo Jackson (1987) and Marcus Allen (1982) as the only Raiders rookies since the 1970 merger to score a rushing touchdown and receiving touchdown in the same game.
Jeanty (21 years and 300 days) also became the youngest player with three touchdowns in a game since Saquon Barkley in 2018.
