ESPN college football expert and “College GameDay” host Rece Davis has ranked his top 10 teams entering the 2026 season. Davis is a voter in the AP Poll.
Davis has the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as his preseason No. 1 team. Notre Dame missed the College Football Playoff last season, but returns a ton of talent. Davis is one of six AP Poll voters to rank Notre Dame No. 1.
Following Notre Dame, Davis ranks Big Ten powers Ohio State (No. 2) and Indiana (No. 3), who are the two most recent national champions. Davis is higher than most on his No. 4 team, Miami. He ranks Oregon No. 5 in his ballot.
The GameDay host puts the Georgia Bulldogs as his No. 6 team. Davis is one of several experts to rank Georgia outside of his preseason top 10. He still ranks Georgia better than any other SEC team. The Dawgs are looking to win a third straight SEC championship in 2026.
Davis’ rankings show he is a little more down on the SEC than most other analysts. Davis ranks Texas A&M and LSU five spots below their actual ranking in the AP Poll. He also shows more respect than most to the Big 12. Davis puts both Houston and Arizona in his top 20.
