In just a few days, New Yorkers will be headed to the polls to pick their party’s candidates for the November general election. But for some voters, they may be voting in a district that looks different from the one they voted in in 2022 or even 2020.
That’s because of a long drawn-out redistricting process which the state used for the first time after the 2020 census. Now that redistricting is in our rearview mirror, redistricting experts are gathering to dissect what went right and what went wrong with New York’s first foray into independent redistricting.
Jeff Wice, an adjunct professor at New York Law School, joined Capital Tonight to talk about what went wrong and how to improve the process.
