Roddy Gayle Jr. officially filed suit against the NCAA (and Charlie Baker) in Niagara County Supreme Court today, seeking a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to make him eligible to play in 2026-27.

The filing asks a judge to sign a TRO immediately, before a hearing, thereby making him eligible to practice and compete.

The complaint states that Michigan has formally extended him a roster opportunity for 2026-27, “conditioned solely on his NCAA eligibility,” and that he was practicing with the team in Lithuania and Croatia (he was pictured on the scout team in video footage).

The suit also confirms that he’s enrolled at Michigan for the fall term and has been continuously enrolled since June 2024, and is on track to graduate in May 2027.
