A major clash between two surging middleweight contenders is set to headline UFC Vegas 109.

Roman Dolidze (15-3 MMA, 9-3 UFC) will face Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez (14-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) in a five-round main event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on August 9.

The Georgian veteran Dolidze is riding a three-fight win streak since last summer, with victories over Anthony Smith (at light heavyweight), Kevin Holland, and Marvin Vettori. “The Caucasian” burst onto the UFC scene in 2019 and won six of his first seven fights inside the Octagon. Though he stumbled with back-to-back decision losses to Vettori and Nassourdine Imavov, he’s bounced back impressively and now sits at No. 8 in the UFC’s middleweight rankings.

Hernandez is ranked just one spot below him at No. 9 and is riding a seven-fight winning streak under the UFC banner. The former LFA champion dropped two of his first three UFC appearances but hasn’t lost since being stopped by Kevin Holland in May 2020.

Another notable middleweight bout has also been added to the card: Eryk Anders (17-8 MMA, 9-8 UFC) is set to take on UK standout Christian Leroy Duncan (11-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC).

Anders most recently competed at UFC 310 in December, where he scored a second-round TKO over former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman. “Ya Boi” is set to make his 19th walk to the Octagon. His opponent, Duncan, has impressed during his UFC stint, with three of his four wins coming by knockout.

Also announced for UFC Vegas 109 is a women’s strawweight bout between Iasmin Lucindo (17-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC) and veteran Angela Hill (18-14 MMA, 13-14 UFC).

Lucindo will be looking to rebound from her loss to Amanda Lemos at UFC 313 in March, which snapped a four-fight win streak. Meanwhile, the 40-year-old Hill has won three of her last four, most recently edging out Ketlen Souza via split decision in February.

Bouts Confirmed for UFC Vegas 109 So Far:

  • –           Roman Dolidze vs. Anthony Hernandez (185 pounds)
  • –           Eryk Anders vs. Christian Leroy Duncan (185 pounds)
  • –           Iasmin Lucindo vs. Angela Hill (115 pounds)
  • –           Julius Walker vs. Raffael Cerqueira (205 pounds)
  • –           Gabriella Fernandes vs. Julija Stoliarenko (125 pounds)
