Perot has been a member of the board of directors since 2020 and most recently served as board vice president.

DALLAS — Dallas-based billionaire Ross Perot Jr. was named chair of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the organization announced Thursday.

He will serve a two-year term starting Thursday, the U.S. Chamber said in a press release. He has been a member of the board of directors since 2020 and most recently served as board vice president, the release states. He succeeds Mark Ordan, CEO of Pediatrix.

“Since joining the board, Ross Perot Jr. has become a trusted advisor, assuming numerous leadership roles to help drive the Chamber’s long-term strategic goals,” Suzanne P. Clark, President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber, said in the release. “As chair, he will bring his global leadership, passion for free enterprise, and pioneering spirit to help the Chamber advance policies that unlock greater economic growth at home and abroad.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business organization focused on advocating for business growth. It was also among the top spenders on lobbying in Washington, D.C., spending $76 million in 2024.

Perot is the chairman and founder of Hillwood, a Texas-based global real estate development company. He also serves as Chairman of The Perot Companies, which manages various Perot family interests.

He is known locally for leading public-private partnerships that resulted in some of the region’s most impactful real estate developments, including Alliance Airport in Fort Worth, the nation’s first industrial airport. The airport, built in 1989, now anchors AllianceTexas, a development that is home to hundreds of companies, thousands of residents and a variety of shopping, dining and entertainment options.

AllianceTexas has generated nearly $130 billion in regional economic impact, the Chamber said.

“The U.S. Chamber is the leading voice fighting for free enterprise and American businesses of all sizes, and I’m honored to serve as board chair,” Perot said in a press release. “The free enterprise system is what allowed my family to create and live the American dream, and there’s no other organization standing up for economic freedom around the world like the Chamber.

The son of Ross Perot Sr., Perot Jr. was born in Dallas and is a Board Member Emeritus for Vanderbilt University, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, and St. Mark’s School of Texas.
