Meet this month’s Real Estate and Property Management (RPM) employee spotlight: Assistant Director for Campus Planning, Daniela Trevino. During her 20 years in the UT System, Daniela has made a creative impact on our campuses, applying valuable interior design expertise to all of her projects.

Opportunities to collaborate and creatively bring campus spaces to life are among the many things Daniela loves about her job. From tasks including budgeting and procurement to designing spaces and selecting finishes, she always finds it very fulfilling to work with her team. A small but mighty group, everyone brings their own unique expertise to the table.

As assistant director, Daniela serves as the project manager for district planning, an important initiative to make sure all Roadrunner students, faculty and staff have the necessary infrastructure support they need. No day is the same for Daniela. She meets with her team, vendors, consultants and end-users, while also ensuring seamless coordination of capital projects like Blanco Hall and San Pedro II.

Daniela works closely with Project Coordinator, Phyllis Rosenfield, to carefully plan every detail from furniture choices to finishes, making sure spaces are functional and aesthetically pleasing while also aligned with the university’s broader campus vision. Together, Phyllis and Daniela shape the look of UTSA’s campuses.

One of the most interesting aspects of Daniela’s role is being able to collaborate with people across UTSA, including faculty, staff, students and leadership. “No two projects are the same, and I’m always meeting new people,” she explains. “It’s fascinating to see how different perspectives come together to shape the spaces we create.”

Beyond the office, Daniela enjoys spending time with family, reading, painting, jewelry making, designing furniture, styling outfits and staying active by going hiking. Whenever an opportunity arises to go to the beach, she’s always excited to take advantage of it.

Daniela’s creative mind, as well as her passion for architecture and fashion, helps make UTSA’s campuses a pleasant place to work, learn and discover.
