Former Muskegon Lumberjacks standout Sacha Boisvert reached the next milestone in his hockey journey, making his National Hockey League debut with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Boisvert, a first-round selection (18th overall) in the 2024 NHL Draft, took the ice after signing his entry-level contract earlier this month, officially beginning his professional career. The 19-year-old forward becomes the latest example of the USHL-to-NHL pipeline, following a dominant junior career with Muskegon.
During his time with the Lumberjacks, Boisvert established himself as one of the league’s top offensive threats, recording 68 points (36 goals, 32 assists) in 61 games during the 2023-24 season and earning All-USHL honors. His combination of size, skill, and two-way play made him a premier prospect and a key piece of Chicago’s future.
After developing at the NCAA level with the University of North Dakota and Boston University, Boisvert now takes the next step onto the NHL stage.
His debut marks another milestone for both his career and the USHL’s continued impact on producing NHL-ready talent.
About the USHL
The United States Hockey Leauge (USHL) and its 16 teams are committed to being the world’s leading junior hockey league. This season, more than 50% of NCAA Division I men’s hockey players and nearly 25% of NHL players have USHL experience. The USHL has developed more than 285 direct NHL Draft picks since 2020, and eight of the last 10 Hobey Baker Award winners, including Macklin Celebrini (Chicago Steel).
Elevated through the recently announced Declaration of Excellence with the NHL and USA Hockey, the league’s player-first approach, including a 2:1 practice-to-game ratio and a schedule with 90% of games played on weekends, provides its players with the optimal environment for athletic and personal growth, creating pathways for the next generation of stars like Auston Matthews (NTDP), Kyle Connor (Youngstown Phantoms), Jeremy Swayman (Sioux Falls Stampede), and Johnny Gaudreau (Dubuque Fighting Saints).
