A group of Spurs megafans will “get their own turn in the national spotlight” when the team plays the Knicks in the NBA Cup Championship tonight at T-Mobile Arena. Fifty members of the “newly formed pack of high-octane Spurs supporters,” known as the Jackals, were “flown to Las Vegas by the team ahead of the title game.” Jackals member Alex Peña said that members were “chosen at random to be invited” and “found out the news Sunday evening,” a day after the Spurs beat the Thunder to punch their ticket to the NBA Cup final. Peña said that the team “offered to cover the Jackals’ travel, hotel and tickets” to today’s game, set to tip off at 8:30pm ET on Prime Video. The Jackals will be “gathering at a meetup of Spurs fans and practicing chants ahead of the game” (KENS5.com, 12/15).
