Best WNBA games to watch this 2025 season
USA TODAY’s Meghan Hall breaks down what the best WNBA games to watch this season are.
Sports Seriously
The City of Angels could have used some help from the heavens in 2024 after the Los Angeles Sparks finished a league-worst 8-32.
Finishing last in the standings doesn’t pay like it used to, however, as the draft lottery went the way of the Dallas Wings, who used that pick on UConn guard, Paige Bueckers. It left the Sparks without a seat at the table, forced to evaluate their options without the crown jewel of the draft on the board.
So Los Angeles got a little crafty, dealing the No. 2 pick in a three-team blockbuster that sent Kelsey Plum to the Sparks. The star guard will hope to stabilize the Sparks, who haven’t made the playoffs since 2020.
Cameron Brink is still on the road to recovery from a torn ACL that ended her rookie season, so Los Angeles won’t be at full strength on Sunday.
They’ll welcome in the runners-up from last season, the Minnesota Lynx, who dropped a winner-take-all Game 5 of the WNBA Finals to the New York Liberty.
Star forward Napheesa Collier will now try to lead the charge in getting the Lynx their fifth championship in team history. With the stars on display, this really is a matchup made for Hollywood. Here is how you can watch the Lynx and Sparks battle on Sunday in Los Angeles.
The Sparks outscored the Lynx 20-16 in the second quarter, yet trail Minnesota by one at halftime. Sparks’ Dearica Hamby scored nine of her 15 points in the second quarter, while Azura Stevens added 14. Napheesa Collier is the only Lynx player in double-digits with 17 points, shooting 7-of-11 from the field and 2-of-2 from three.
The Minnesota Lynx have a five-point advantage over the Los Angeles Sparks heading into the second quarter. Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier led the way with 12 points and three rebounds, shooting 5-of-6 from the field and 1-of-1 from three. Sparks’ Azura Stevens has a game-high 14 points, shooting 5-of-5 from the field and 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.
