Southern Connecticut State University softball was featured in the first NCAA Regional Rankings on Apr. 19, 2026, making it the first time the Owls have been ranked since the 2013 season. The first rankings of the season are listed alphabetically and the top 10 teams are under consideration. NCAA Division II Tournament eligibility is contingent on the team having a .500-or-higher record.

To date, Southern is currently 19-19 overall and 12-16 in the NE10 while also hosting a 19-16 record against in-region competition. The Owls are off to a great season under second-year head coach Kate Bowen. The Owls are hitting .306 (325-1,05=62) for the season and have scored 212 runs in 38 games, so far. It marks the first time since the 2013 season that the Owls have scored 200 runs in a season, with eight games remaining.

Additionally, the 2026 squad is the first to feature six players with 30-or-more hits in a season, since the 2014 season including Izzy Ingersoll (49), Brianna Pearson and Karley Austin (41, each), Sophia Angiolini (39), Gianna Iaquinto (38) and Olivia Young (32). Angiolini leads the Owls with a .375 (39-104) average with a home run, six doubles, 25 RBi and 11 runs scored while Ingersoll has accumulated a team-high 49 hits while hitting .358 with six doubles, three triples, a home run and a team-high 29 RBI and 28 runs scored. Pearson is hitting .336 (41-122) with 26 RBI and 25 runs scored while Austin has totaled 41 hits, 22 RBI and 24 runs scored while hitting .331 and leading the team with 12 stolen bases. Gianna Iaquinto leads the Owls in home runs (4), extra-bast hits (17) with eight doubles and five triples while also leading the team with 31 runs scored.

On the mound, Ashley Lewis is 8-7 with two saves in 14 starts while leading the team with a 3.24 ERA. Giselle DeLutri ranks among the conference leaders with 108 strikeouts and leads the Owls’ staff with 91 innings pitched. DeLutri is 6-7 with a 4.08 ERA.
