The Warriors, who lost three centers on Friday, are signing former Utah Jazz and Miami Heat 7-foot center Omer Yurtseven to a 10-day contract, according to multiple reports.
The 27-year-old Yurtseven played in the Euroleague with Greek team Panathinaikos this season before signing in early March with the Rio Grande Valley Viper of the G League. He played three G League games with the Houston Rockets’ affiliate, averaging 22 points and 14 rebounds, including a 36-point, 14-rebound game on Friday.
The Warriors could use his help, as well as his height. Golden State had centers Al Horford (right calf strain) and Quinten Post (left ankle sprain) both leave Friday’s loss to Minnesota and Draymond Green (back soreness) was scratched from the lineup before the game.
Yurtseven’s three straight double-doubles with RGV helped convince the Warriors to sign him over Santa Cruz Warriors center — and NBA veteran — Charles Bassey, who subsequently signed a 10-day deal with the Boston Celtics.
Since 2021, Yurtseven has played in 113 NBA games over parts of three seasons with the Heat and Jazz. He has averaged 5.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 11.8 minutes per game.
