Several former candidates for the Texas U.S. Congressional District 19 Republican primary race have announced public endorsements ahead of the May primary runoff election.
On Wednesday, March 25, Tom Sell’s campaign announced that Sell had received several endorsements from former opponents in the Texas 2026 GOP Primary race.
Those candidates include:
-
Jason Coreley, Lubbock County Commissioner.
-
Dr. Donald May of Lubbock.

“I am grateful for the support and prayers of these fine men after a hard-fought primary,” Sell said in a social media post. “In the coming months, I will lean on them for advice as we continue in our campaign to be a strong representative for the people of the 19th District in the U.S. Congress.”
For context, Sell secured 40.42% of the vote during the March primaries — the leader in the race. However, Sell was not able to secure 50% +1 vote to avoid the runoff.
According to the Texas Secretary of State, official results show that Sell will face Abraham Enriquez in the May GOP primary runoff race.

It is worth noting that the candidate who came in third place in the March GOP primary — Matt Smith of Abilene — has not publicly endorsed either Sell or Enriquez, meaning he is the only former candidate in the race to have not done so already.
Abraham Enriquez boasts endorsements from some area leaders
While some former opponents are rallying behind Sell, Enriquez has already boasted endorsements from:
-
Lubbock Mayor Mark McBrayer.
-
Former Abilene Mayor Anthony Williams.
-
Lubbock County Commissioner Cary Shaw.
-
Texas State Board of Education Chairman Aaron Kinsey.
Both candidates have also announced endorsements from various advocacy groups and organizations. The winner of the May 26 GOP primary runoff will face Democratic candidate Kyle Rable in the November 2026 General Election.
