LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A new proposal for the future home of a Las Vegas NBA franchise is setting its sights on the south Strip.
According to a release shared Monday, the proposed “Diamond Arena” would be located at the northeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Four Seasons Drive, directly across from Mandalay Bay.
The project will feature a 21,212-seat arena design with an entrance directly on the Las Vegas Strip within walking distance to more than 20,000 hotel rooms.
“This isn’t just another arena project—it’s a global stage for the NBA,” said Tom Letizia, a spokesman for the Diamond Arena. “The league is looking for a long-term home in Las Vegas, and this site delivers everything needed to define the future.”
This comes after the NBA Board of Governors voted to move forward with the bidding process for possible expansion teams in Las Vegas and Seattle.
The “Diamond Arena” is the latest proposed site for a future franchise.
“It’s moving very quickly,” Letizia said. “But Las Vegas has earned the right to have an NBA franchise in this city.”

The project also touts immediate access to the I-15 and 215 beltway, proximity to Harry Reid International Airport, and visibility for around 60,000 passing vehicles.
The project also promises the largest parking capacity of any competing site, including 18,460 existing spaces and 760 planned VIP spaces.
The project also includes a 100,000-square-foot ground-level plaza, and 140,000 square-feet of team and broadcast facilities.
According to a release, the “neutral” arena site is expected to draw many economic opportunities.
The area is currently home to many businesses, including radio station 97.5. The station said they received an email Tuesday that they would have to move, but it’s not all bad news.
“We were told that it’s already been negotiated,” said Marty Basch, executive VP of Kemp Broadcasting and Digital Outdoor. “We have three radio stations here on the property. We would be relocated to the new arena if this is the new site for the NBA.”
There are other businesses in this area. So far, no word on what will happen to them just yet.
“The NBA has not made any official announcement yet. I expect that they will very shortly,” Letizia said. “We expect that we’re going to hear something on the franchise coming to Vegas within the next 30 to 60 days. This will be a global location.”
