Southwest Airlines will begin overnight flights to Love Field later this year.

Starting Oct. 1, the Dallas-based carrier will operate one red-eye flight each day from Los Angeles International Airport and Las Vegas’s Harry Reid International Airport into Love Field, according to Chris Perry, a company spokesperson.

Southwest is the primary carrier at Love Field, where it operates 18 of the airport’s 20 gates.

The Las Vegas flight will depart at 1:25 a.m. and the Los Angeles flight will depart at 1 a.m., with both scheduled to arrive at 6 a.m., Perry said. The additions could be beneficial to connecting passengers, he added.

“Those arrivals will connect nicely into our early departure banks for customers going elsewhere in the network, but also provide a great option for local customers who want to stay a little longer where they are without adding an additional night of hotel,” Perry said in a statement.

Southwest began flying red-eyes during Valentine’s Day weekend last year, after first announcing the move in 2024. In October, Southwest will have 53 daily redeye flights, including the carrier’s first international red-eye, which will operate from Las Vegas to Costa Rica, according to Perry.

Late-night flying is difficult at Love Field, given that it has a voluntary noise curfew, with airlines being asked not to fly between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. the next morning.

Love Field is surrounded by residential areas and residents have complained about noise levels in the past.
