CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Hundreds lined the blacked-out fences surrounding the Embassy Suites in downtown Chattanooga Saturday evening, hoping to catch a glimpse of Spain’s world-class, world-famous players as they boarded the bus en route to Atlanta.

News Channel 9 got an exclusive up-close look at Spain’s superstars like Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Rodri, Cucerella, David Raya and many others as they loaded their items to head south.

The Spanish national team held their final training session in Chattanooga at Baylor School Saturday morning ahead of their first World Cup match. They will return to Chattanooga Monday night and resume training at Baylor Tuesday.

Spain will have one final training session ahead of Monday’s match Sunday morning in Kennesaw, Georgia, at Kennesaw State University. That session will be closed to the public.

Spain’s 18-year-old wonderkid Lamine Yamal is set to compete in his first World Cup match Monday, and manager Luis de la Fuente will lead a World Cup team for the first time in his career. He led Yamal and Spain to a European Championship in 2024.

Spain will face Cabo Verde at Atlanta Stadium at noon Monday. DraftKings currently lists Spain and France as the co-favorites to win the World Cup, each at +450.
